A job in Nottingham – just what our steeplejacks love.

The Aspire tower stands at 196ft, three times taller than the Angel of the North and is also 26ft higher than Nelson’s Column.

Installed at the University of Nottingham’s Jubilee campus, the structure is lit during the hours of darkness, and designed to represent academic ambition.

“Aspire symbolises a vital aspect of the university. It sends a message to everyone that no matter where they come from, they can achieve great things. It celebrates our efforts to make the world a better place.”

“It is obviously more abstract than the Angel of the North, but to me it is an inspirational piece of work. It symbolizes the regeneration of this old factory, brownfield site – it is almost like a phoenix rising out of the ashes.”
