The Management Team

Nathan Corden

Managing Director

  • Nathan First Joined the Family Business after leaving college in 1995 as a trainee Steeplejack & Lightning Conductor Engineer and spent a number of years learning the trade. After a break, He returned to the Central High Rise in 2002, as a Lightning Protection Test Engineer for 5 years before moving into the position of Sales Representative & Technical Surveyor.
  • In 2009 Nathan joined the board as Commercial Director and since this period, his role has been to identify the key areas where the business has changed and continues to evolve.
  • Comments from Nathen: As an Industrial Climbing Services business, we have had to grow and adapt to carrying out more than just traditional Steeplejack works We have become more of a services based company over the years and we have identifies changes in our customer requirement and their expectations. Our customers expect the highest level of service and with shorter timeframes to conform and produce the vital documentation, we pride ourselves in being able to be a part of our clients success.
  • Nathan is also now following in Keith & June’s footsteps and has recently been voted onto the ATLAS committee.

Ian Townsend

Works Director

  • Ian has worked in the Steeplejack industry for over 20 years joining Central High Rise in 1995 to complete his apprenticeship.
  • Starting in the trades Ian has been a Steeplejack and Foreman prior to joining the Sales team and learning to survey.
  • Moving across into an operational role of the business, Ian then spent 3 years as Contracts Manager before his promotion to Contracts Director in 2009.
  • Key to Ian’s success has been that he fully understands the operational side of the business from both the steeplejack and man management prospective.
  • Comments from Ian: With the maintained respect of the teams of Engineers, Abseilers and Steeplejacks in the field, my task is to ensure that the we as a company continue to deliver projects on time, cost effectively for customers and most importantly safely
  • Ian is also a council member of the SLPTG - The Steeplejacks and Lightning Protection Training Group.

Steven Smith

Finance Manager

  • Steven is Central High Rise’s Financial Manager and is one of the company’s longest serving employees with 29 years’ service.
  • Steven first joined Central High Rise in 1988 as a trainee on a work placement as part of the government’s Youth Training Scheme in which he carried out general clerical duties. Steven soon showed a particular aptitude for the financial tasks assigned to him, and within six months the placement became a full time permanent position working in the accounts department assisting the Company Secretary with general accounts duties.
  • Central provided the opportunity for further training and advancement. Between 1988 and 1994, in conjunction with his work at Central, Steven also studied and attained several Business and Finance qualifications resulting in a BTEC Higher National Certificate in Business and Finance.
  • Steven worked his way up the company to become Financial Controller and then Financial Manager.

David Cini

Office Manager

  • Before joining Central (High Rise) David worked mostly in finance. Before moving to the UK, David worked as a Reconciliation Officer in the foreign accounts department at Malta's National bank and as chief accounts officer for BH International Company Limited.
  • David moved to England in 2009 and began working at Central High Rise in 2010. Since joining the team David’s role has grown and developed from dealing with clients to assisting with technological issues as they arise in the office.
  • As office manager David’s main duty is to work with the team and liaise with other members of staff to ensure the smooth daily running of the administrative side of the business. Due to David’s background in finance he also assists the finance manager when needed.
  • David also assists with the completion of PQQs (Pre-Qualification Questionnaires) and making sure that we still maintain our current Accreditations. As well as David’s role of Office Manager he also has the responsibility of Quality Assurance Officer.
  • David is currently helping the Managing Director with the process of obtaining the ISO18001 Accreditation.

Darryl Archer

Contracts Manager

  • Darryl has been a steeplejack for over 30 years
  • Starting as a Trainee Steeplejack, Darryl has really evolved with the industry to what today is an Industrial Climbing Organisation
  • Prior to his Contracts Manager's role, Darryl has been a Site Supervisor, Health & Safety Rep and Senior Foreman.
  • As well as his extensive knowledge as a Steeplejack and Lightning Protection Engineer, Darryl has worked on a large number of Heritage Projects, leading the Steeplejacks in the specialist stonework and bricklaying team.
  • With many years hands on experience, Darryl is ideally placed to manage the Contracts & Delivery Department and the Specialist Operative Teams
